Laos is the bridgehead of China's "Belt and Road" Initiative (BRI), the first station of the BRI Pan-Southeast Asia Railway and the first station of the BRI Hospital Alliance in Southeast Asia medical cooperation, and plays a prominent role in international medical cooperation.
In recent years, Medical establishments in Laos, represented by the Mittaphab Hospital under the Lao Ministry of Health, have established cooperative relations with more than 20 domestic hospitals and academic institutions, promoting the future and vigorous development of China-Laos international medical cooperation, and becoming a shining example of international medical cooperation under the BRI.
China-Laos international medical cooperation has broken through the shortcomings of the traditional distribution system of imported drugs (See image above). Based on the "Belt and Road" medical cooperation platform, it has innovatively explored and practiced a new mode of medical cooperation applicable to China and countries along the "Belt and Road" (See image below), which has attracted wide attention from the media and all sectors of society.
In August, CCTV conducted a special report on medical cooperation along the Belt and Road. According to the survey, more than 10,570 hepatitis C patients have been cured since China and Laos launched cooperation on prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. As the first station of international medical cooperation in Southeast Asia, Laos's generic drugs entered the Chinese market through international medical cooperation, and gradually formed the innovative "China-Laos Cross-border Medical Cooperation Platform".
At the "Belt and Road" Hospital Cooperation Forum with the theme of "Build New Silk Road with New Thoughts" held in August, Zeng Zhiyu, president of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, said in an interview with CCTV, to establish "International Medical Technology Cooperation Hospital", will work through the remote consultation, academic exchanges, science and education, strengthen the liver disease, cancer and other disease prevention cooperation and exchanges, complement each other, sharing resources, and benefit the people of China, Laos and countries along the "Belt and Road" with high-quality cooperation outcomes.
